Today I read an article that is related to the current gas crisis. The article talked about the Luscious Garage in San Francisco, California and how they are converting hybrid vehicles into "plug-in" hybrids. This means that certain cars such as the Toyota Prius, Mercury Mariner, and the Ford Escape are able to be converted so that they are not dependent on gas at all. Using state of the art battery technology, the "converted" cars are able to withstand short trips (like driving to work or the grocery store) running on battery power alone. However, drivers have the option of filling up with regular gas if absolutely needed. The demand for these conversions are very high and have forced Luscious Garage to open a second shop in the San Francisco area.
