Comparing Characters

The two characters I chose to compare were the Noline sisters, Codi and Hallie. Although these sisters have the same origins, they are quite different. In some cases, they can even be considered opposites. In others however, they posess similair traits. For example, when Codi was younger, she was very caring and even risked her life to save coyote pups. Hallie, who looked up to her older sister, shadowed Codi and developed the same love for nature. Still, as the sisters grew older they drifted apart in their ways. Hallie continued to demonstrate her unselfish love for mother earth as Codi became more and more self-absorbed, stressing over finding where she belongs.  Another similarity can be found in the characters determination. To begin with, Codi is determined to find her home, a place that welcomes her with open arms. However, she feels her efforts aren't producing results and she continues her search for that special place. Hallie on the other hand, is determined to help the Nicaraguans prosper during the difficult times they face. Unlike Codi, Hallie instantly feels right at home revealing how easy it is for her to adapt to different surroundings. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Codi and Hallie's similarities and differences don't define there relationship entirely. What does, is the love that the two share for each other.
