Biotech

For this post, I decided to read the article that Mrs. Jarrett posted on her blog: How India Reconciles Hindu Values and Biotech. The article discusses how India is excelling in the field of stem cell research and how the U.S. is falling behind. The article also talks about some of the moral reasons behind the restriction of this type of research. In my opinion, I think the United States government should increase funding in this area. This research has the potential to save millions of lives and it's a crime to hold it back. I think that India is headed in the right direction. Now I am aware of the moral tempest that surrounds this research but I still think it's necessary for mankind. Besides, there are other ways to obtain cells... they don't just have to come from an embryo. I wonder if in the future, the U.S. will take the less conservative route towards this matter.
